How to cross Kyrgyz-Kazakh border Ak Jol?

 

Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan border crossing formalities.

 

Ak-Jol is located in 25 km from Bishkek and the southern part of the village Kordai. Item is round the clock. There are often long queues on the border.

Crossing the border to Kazakhstan.

By foot

Prepare your passport and pen beforehand. On the Kyrgyz side, you are get an easy passport and customs control. This is just a formality, you may be asked to show your suitcase, here they put stamp and you will go along the noman`s land, it is about 100 meters that runs along the River Chu. Approaching the Kazakh goals, you will be asked to show your passport and visa, after take immigration paper from guards and fill in it. If the guards don`t give out it, come to the window. On the wall, there is a sampler. After passing the border control, they will scan your luggage and you can proceed to the exit gate.

By car

Before the Kyrgyz post you set off the passengers, they are going through the terminals for passengers. You will transport to the shed, where guards and customs officers will inspect your car, and then you approach to the window for passport control. Then you pass by noman`s land and approach the Kazakh goal, you will be given a blank, it is to check the seals. After you drive to the terminal, go through passport control and fill in the blank given by Kazakh guards. After passing, you have to fill out a customs declaration for temporary importation of the vehicle. Sample is on the stand. After filling, you are put the seal, and you go back to the car through passport control. Then you drive to the border inspection, you will need to ask the people about its location, because there is no arrow. After arrival at the border controls there are special shelves where you need to get off all your stuff, then you can be sent to a large scanner in the next building, where your car will be scanned. It takes not a long time to scan car if you are alone. After you return to guards, if there is no complaints you are leave. Then you return to the main exit, drive and parking, don`t paring anywhere, fines are very expensive in Kazakhstan. You need to get insurance, there are many small lumps, where you take insurance. It costs about  10$ for 5 days.

You can drive to from the West Railway Station in Bishkek.

Ticket costs 350 KGS per person.

Collective taxi is 600 KGS.

You can go to the border from Almaty-Chui streets. Direction towards the border.

You can also drive from Dordoi market, from south-western parking.

Price is 60 KGS.

Buses to Almaty are passed and checked very quickly, you don`t need wait for a long time.

Collective taxis are waiting in line for a long time, so if you are in a hurry, get the border and go through customs control, leaving there will be plenty of taxis. The closest one is taxis around the village Kordai, on it ypo get the station in Kordai. Costs about 100 tenge per person or 40 KGS. There, you can choose where to go further.

It is important to know:

You are given 5 days to pass Kazakhstan. For example, you entered at 11 pm. Till 12.00 it is one hour, it is considered a day. Therefore, do not count from the very first day of your arrival.

Insurance for cars in Kazakhstan is obligatory. Fine is 200$.

Be careful at the border, there is strong stampede at rush hour.
