Highlights of the tour

Day 1. Bishkek-Kyzyl oi (280km)

Meeting in the airport. Breakfast. Briefing. First of all we’re going to to go to bank to exchange the currency. Then we cross eco-post after which you will see winding mountain road on the Tuya-Ashuu top 3350 m the tunnel 3 km length. After passing the tunnel we may have lunch enjoying the view. On the way we will visit Kojomkul museum. Late picnic at the bank of the river. Overnight in guest house

Conditions of the road: First part of the road is asphalted. We have to cross Tuya-Ashuu pass 3350 m. Driving up and down takes around 70 km. We start to drive up from a valley 700 m. On the top we have to cross a tonnel 3 km. On the bottom we refill our tanks and continue dust road until the end. The last part of the road is going along the Kokomeren river, here we need to drive carefully. The river is very deep and strong and like a snake: always going right and left.

 

 

Day 2. Kyzyl-oi – Song-Kul (150km)

After breakfast we go to Song Kul Lake via Karakeche pass. Before driving up to the pass we stop in Chaek village center to buy fresh vegetables and fruits and to refill our tanks. Picnic on Karakeche pass 3384m. On the way we make photo stops, acquaintance with nomads. In the evening we walk to petroglyphs and after to the lake. In the evening horse-riding games. Dinner and overnight in yurt.

Conditions of the road: First part of the road is going throw the mountain villages of Kyrgyzstan. Sometimes asphalted. When we turn towards Song kul lake, the road becomes unpaved but still in good condition. The coal mine is on the way to Song Kul Lake. If it is raining the route could be difficult as we are driving up on clay. FWD. needed.

 

Day 3. Song-Kul-Mels-Tash-Rabat (180km)

Morning breakfast. Transfer via 3 passes (Moldo-Ashuu 3450m, MELS 3300, Orto-Syrt 2900m). Today is the most interesting day, we have a good day for FWD. and we see the most beautiful passes of the Kyrgyz Republic. We say goodbye to our hospitable nomads and drive to Moldo Ashuu pass 3450 m. where we have photo stop. Then we continue to drive down to Naryn river and we cross ak talla valley. We are going up to MarksEngelsLeninStalin pass 3300m. We stop on the pass for incredible view of the canyon. Arrive in Tash Rabat stone fortress. Dinner and overnight in yurt.

Conditions of the road: Unpaved road until MELS pass, sometimes steep. MELS pass is clay pass. In case of rain is dangerous.

 

 

Day 4. Tash-Rabat-Kelsuu Lake (230km)

Breakfast. Visit Tash Rabat complex. Drive to mysterious Kel Suu lake 3400 m, where water is green color and drinkable. Registration border zone. Picnic on the way. Dinner at camp fire. Overnight in tent.

Conditions of the road: The difficult day for our jeeps as the way was repaired last time 25 years ago. We cross a strong river on our jeeps. High mountain driving skills are required this day.

 

Day 5. Kelsuu lake-Naryn city. Night in guest house(200 km)

After breakfast we may walk around Kelsuu Lake. The lake is really incredible; it is so beautiful that you need to come to see it. Then we go to Naryn city from Chinese means “narrow”. Check out from border zone. On the way we have lunch. Dinner and overnight in Khantengri guesthouse.

Conditions of the road: The way back is ok. We have a non-important pass on the way.

 

Day 6. Naryn city-Issik kul lake (150 km).

From Naryn we drive to the wildest places - desert mountains and glaciers, paradise for wild animals like wolfs, foxes and etc. We are going up along the Naryn river, we cross the confluence of Big Naryn river and Kichi Naryn river. We cross forest area of Kichi Naryn valley. We are driving along high canyons and narrow hills. We drive up to Tosor pass, we see all year glaciers. A cup of coffee is very good on 4000 m fresh air. Sauna, dinner and overnight in guest house.

Conditions of the road: All the way is mountain road going along the Naryn, Kichi Naryn and Balgart river. The road is narrow crossing bridges and hills. On approaching Tosor pass the road is becoming very difficult. We need to cross small rivers, stone avalanches. Clean the route from the stones.

 

 

Day 7. Issik kul lake – Jety Oghuz-Karakol (150 km)

In the morning we drive to fairytale valley. Walking around. Morning coffee. Then we drive to Jety Oghuz valley. We spend time in alpine paradise with kyrgyz nomads. We will meet eagle hunter, he will tell us a lot of interesting stories about these beautiful birds, then we will see eagle hunting show. Picnic with the glacier view. We drive back to the main road to join a road to Karakol. In Karakol we will see famous Orthodox Church and Dungan mosque. Dinner in Dungan family. Night in hotel.

Day 8. Karakol-Semenovskoye-Grigorevskoe-Cholpon ata (230 km)

Early in the morning we will drive to cross another valley Semenovskoye, we will visit mountain lake Altyn kol, the we cross via mountain pass to Grigorevskoye valley. Picnic lunch. Walking in the forest area. Then we drive to Issik kul lake, we drive to the hotel on the beach. Free time on the beach. Dinner and night in hotel.

Conditions of the road: asphalt 70%, pave road 30%.

 

Day 9. Cholpon Ata – Bishkek (330 km)

In the morning we drive to Bishkek city. On the way, we will make a short break to give you the opportunity to visit ancient stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.). Today we will visit Burana Tower. It is a minaret from the 11th century. Burana Tower was used during the Great Silk Road as a sign for travelers that there was a city to have a rest. Nearby you will see an open air museum of Balbans (stone warriors). After an interesting excursion and climbing to the top of the tower you will transfer to the Kyrgz capital. Traditional dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Night is in a hotel.

Day 10: Bishkek - airport
