Bishkek city

Any city, as well as people, has the unique history, the unique biography. This postulate is right also for the city of Bishkek – the capital of our state of Kyrgyzstan. Now  we will plunge into short digression on the subject "History of Bishkek".

The fertile Chuy Valley in which center the capital of Kyrgyzstan is located has been made habitable Goma the sapiens since the most ancient times. Archaeological researches have proved that in many places of the Chuy Valley (for example, on the river Alamedin near the city of Bishkek, near the city of Tokmok, etc.) there were settlements of primitive people.

So, the numerous stone instruments of labor found near Alamedinsky hydroelectric power station specify to researchers that in the neighborhood of modern Bishkek in the V-IV millennia B.C. there lived people. Later, somewhere at the end of the 2nd millennium B.C., ancient tribes of a so-called "era of bronze" which were engaged generally in agriculture, cattle breeding, and also potter's and metallurgical craft have in these parts begun to be settled.

History of Bishkek — Saky and usun

With arrival of the so-called Iron Age the territory of modern Kyrgyzstan becomes the place of formation of various breeding unions. In particular, from the 7th to 3 centuries BC saksky tribes, and then, from 3rd century BC here lived and up to 5 century AD – the usunsky breeding unions. At the same time, generally they went in for nomadic cattle breeding. At the same time, have gained a certain development as well different types of crafts.

By archeologists and historians it is established that the specified saksky and usunsky tribes, among others, lived and in certain areas of the bed of the rivers It is scarlet - Arch and Alamedin, being near the city of Bishkek. Mute witnesses of those historical times were numerous kurganny burial grounds which remained within borders of Bishkek until recently, and also his vicinities.

Bishkek and Great Silk way

The future of any city or settlement in ancient times as, however, and today, depended first of all on existence or lack of transport arteries. In this sense the location of Bishkek was very favorable since across this territory there passed the well-known routes of the Great Silk way.

The caravans loaded by various goods and jewelry went to those far times from China 2 various routes, at the same time east branch of the route in the most convenient place of Zailiysky  left to the wide Chuy Valley.

Legend

Very long time ago, Kurmanbek-Han has located in the valley between the rivers Alamedin and Ala - Archa. Coming back from hunting together with Dzhigits, he has heard noise and shout of the woman:

- Bishkek! Where you have got to?

The woman looked for a spoon for koumiss beating. In too time from a nearby yurta crying of the baby has sounded. Kurmanbek-Han has answered the woman:

- What do you rustle, the woman? Why to look for what responds? You hear, Bishkek to you gives a vote!

At rather poor yurta the newborn's father sat. As a gift Kurmanbek-Han has presented him a kamcha. Without knowing how to thank the khan, the father called the son by Bishkek and has counted that the gift will bring him good luck.

From early age Bishkek showed improbable force - he always was the first in various single combats. Bishkek was dexterous, diligent and kind, was always ready to help people around. Once Bishkek has seen that the old man can't pass through the ford of the river, has offered the help to the aged man and has transported him through the river. Having stepped into the coast, the stranger has blessed it. Young Bishkek hasn't attached it significance. Having turned back to thank the aged man, he hasn't found him and strongly was surprised. But after this blessing of Bishkek began to call baatyry.

He always struck the enemies with the unpredictability and tactics. Enemies didn't know from where to wait for Bishkek. Over the years also his glory grew. Enemies were afraid of him and therefore have left his and his fortress alone. Later Bishkek has quarreled with the nobility of fortress and has been forced to leave the native land. He has moved to riverheads Alamedin, and then to a height on average a watercourse. There passed the track which became in the Silk way later. To unite separate Kyrgyz tribes, Bishkek followed wisdom "Take not the wife, but relatives", and married the daughter of dear person from the Talas valley. They gave birth to children: To Manakkoz, Baymurat, Manapbay, Yryskul. And at the crossroads nine roads Bishkek the market constructed. After baatyr arrived to the Chuy Valley, he began to develop the land and to be engaged in agriculture in which it was trained by relatives. The earth yielded a good harvest of vegetables and fruit, and through the Silk way there passed travelers and caravans. 40 athletes met freights and guests, accompanied them to the city, and then saw off back. Many note that Bishkek was the real leader. In it there were both a heroism, and diligence.

Over time the area where there lived Bishkek baatyr received the name Bishkek and turned into the city. After death of a baatyr his family buried him with honors on a height and delivered on a grave big cemetery. Before significant decisions or distant travel people gathered at a cemetery and arranged recommendation. Over time this place turned into a memorial where people came and paid a tribute to a legendary baatyr. At the beginning of the 20th century the Russian architects made restoration of a cemetery, but later on its place constructed Issyk Kul movie theater.

Bishkek baatyr could unite the shattered tribes of Kyrgyz, settle down and to improve the international relations. Besides, he was an example of the real hero capable of feats for the good of the people and the city.
